Vice President Kamala Harris to travel to Illinois on Friday, stops in Chicago and suburbs – NBC Chicago

On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the Chicago area.

Harris is expected to attend events in both Chicago and Plainfield.

In Chicago, Harris is due to speak at a conference of the National Association of Hispanic Elected and Appointed Officials, which the group says is the largest national gathering of Hispanic politicians.

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the group held a face-to-face conference.

“We are honored to have Vice President Kamala Harris joining us as we bring Hispanic leaders to Chicago for the nation’s largest Hispanic political convention,” said NALEO Education Foundation CEO Arturo Vargas. “This year we are celebrating our first in-person conference in three years and we are thrilled to provide this great opportunity for NALEO members and Latin American politicians across the country to connect with our country’s leadership.”

The Chicago Sun-Times, citing a White House spokesperson, also reports that Harris will be staying at Plainfield, who will be joined by representatives. Lauren Underwood and Robin Kelly to focus on the administration’s maternal health efforts.
