The Government of Canada invests in the development of recreational tourism in Gaspé

The Local Development Committee of L’Anse-à-Vallot receives more than $170,000 in financial assistance from CED to expand the activities offered at the historical site of Pointe-à-la-Renommee (Fame Point).

Supporting the tourism industry contributes to economic development in Quebec regions. That is why the Honorable Diane Lebutilier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésy-lès-Île-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of Public Revenue, on behalf of the Honorable Pascal Saint-Onge, Minister for Sports and Minister in charge of CED, today announces a non-refundable contribution to $172,767 for the Local Development Committee of L’Anse-à-Vallot for the opening of new interactive exhibitions at the historic site of Pointe-à-la-Renomme (Point of Fame).

This CED support, provided through the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), has allowed the Committee to digitize its exhibits to provide visitors with bilingual contactless digital trails that are available in spring and autumn in addition to the summer season. This project will allow the organization to mitigate the effects of a labor shortage that has been in place for several years, while also offering regional tourism activities that support social distancing.

The Local Development Committee of L’Anse-à-Vallot is a non-profit organization founded in 1993. Its mission is to bring the historic site of Pointe-à-la-Renomme to life in order to improve the economic, tourist and social life of the village. and cultural development.

The health crisis has hit the tourism sector hard, which is a key contributor to Canada’s economy.
