LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears’ ex-husband trashed her southern California wedding venue, authorities say.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain. Cameron Henderson said officers answered the call about the intrusion after 2 p.m. Thursday. According to him, the first husband of pop singer Jason Alexander was detained at the ceremony site.
Henderson says Alexander was arrested after officers noticed he had a warrant for his arrest in another county.
Alexander went live on his Instagram when he approached the security of the event. In an almost empty but decorated room, he told them that Spears had invited him.
“She’s my first wife, my only wife,” said Alexander, who was briefly married to Spears – his childhood friend – in 2014. Their marriage lasted only 55 hours.
“I am her first husband,” he continued in the video. “I’m here to crash the wedding.”
Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, aged 14 and 15.
Spears and her fiancé Sam Asghari were reportedly due to wed on Thursday. The couple announced their engagement almost nine months ago after Asghari proposed with a four-carat diamond ring.
In 2016, the couple starred in the video for “Slumber Party”.
A rep for Spears did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Authorities are still investigating the reported invasion.
