The Best Men’s Shoes for Adventure Travel

ECCO Biome 2.1

The Danish company ECCO is famous for its quality and stylish footwear, from classic shoes and boots to sneakers. In my experience, their shoes tend to be very comfortable right out of the box. We now have their new ECCO Biom 2.1 Low Tex which is more than just a casual shoe but a distinctive step to the trail. Designed as a lightweight hiking shoe, and since it’s made by ECCO, it’s a dual purpose shoe made for both mountain trails and city life. They “power” the shoe with BIOM® Natural Motion® technology using three independent layers, a combination of premium textile and ECCO yak leather that might convince you to head to the Himalayas for a little cross-country run. They feature a lightweight and breathable upper, a Phorene™ midsole that provides extra bounce, and an ECCO Performance Rubber+ outsole designed for added traction.

Waterproof shoes KEEN NXIS EVO

KEEN are especially known for their hiking shoes, water boots and sandals with rubber toe caps that have saved many toes. Their new lightweight NXIS hiking shoe combines years of innovation in a shoe that is a light and fast version of their best-selling shoe. The company calls them “travel shoes,” so they do double duty by not being the minimum trail running shoe. However, it does have speed lace shoulder straps and a well-cushioned midsole. The outsole is a signature horseshoe tread designed for rough trails. The classic Keen style upper is waterproof. It is available in shoe and boot style. 144 dollars.

Merrell Hydro Moc BLOOM™

Merrell shoes are a longtime favorite of mine and while the look of their new Hydro Moc BLOOM™ might make you think, they are well worth checking out. These are comfortable water shoes that can be worn all day long, in or out of the water. They are so comfortable. The upper uses injected EVA foam, which is waterproof and durable. The back heel strap is made from translucent rubber and 10% recycled rubber. Merrell uses FloatEco Foam™ to make the Hydro Moc lightweight and comfortable. From a sustainable standpoint, BLOOM™ EVA is an efficient foam made from 10% recycled algae biomass that turns green water into clean water in the process. They are also suitable for vegans. Consider throwing out your old Crocs and wearing these. 55 dollars.

Danner Free Spirit Traveler

Anyone looking for a stylish hiking shoe should take a look at these retro backpackers from Danner, a company that has long been a leader in fashionable boots that could be used in Milan as well as in the mountains. The Free Spirit Hiker is based on the original Danner Free Spirit boots from 1988 but reimagined for 2022. Dual density midsole promises comfort and durability on…
