Sheila Vand, Matt Dillon Dreamland Peak Acquired by Vertical Entertainment – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Vertical Entertainment acquires North American rights to political satire dream land, directed by Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari, will premiere in North America in the Spotlight section of the Tribeca Film Festival in June. The global independent distributor has scheduled the film’s daily release in 10 of the top 20 markets, including Los Angeles and New York, this fall. The action takes place in a near future America that has closed its borders and is more isolated than ever. The story follows Simin (Sheila Vand), an Iranian American who embarks on a journey to discover what it means to be a free American. Simin works for the Census Bureau, the most important government agency of its time. In an effort to understand and control its population, the government began a program to record the citizens’ dreams. Simin, one of the Census Bureau’s top dream catchers, is unaware of this insidious conspiracy. As she forges bonds with lovesick poet Mark (William Moseley) and a cynical detective (Matt Dillon) tasked with protecting her, Simin’s morals, social connection, and safety are put to unforeseen tests.

In addition to Wand (Through the snow), Mosley (Medieval) and Dillon (Capon), dream land stars Isabella Rossellini (space man), Joaquim de Almeida (Queen of the South), Christopher McDonald (American Crime Story), Anna Gann (Sally) and Guy Charles (Alice), among others.
