Summer is just around the corner and everyone is ready to travel.
To encourage tourism in Sandusky County, the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau partnered with Ohio. Find It Here” and joined nearly 100 other attractions from across the state for Ohio Tourism Day 2022, which will be held May 11 at the Ohio State House in Columbus.
The event was attended by about 1,000 people wishing to make plans for the summer.
Each year, Ohio Tourism Day celebrates Ohio’s tourism industry and provides consumers with the opportunity to plan their Ohio vacation by visiting tourist destinations and attractions across the state.
The Sandusky County Visitors Bureau has put on a display promoting tours of the historic Sandusky County jail and dungeons, as well as many other attractions, including the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums and the Historic Barn Mural. Office staff also promoted many of the events planned in Sandusky County communities for 2022.
“Our goal was to speak to potential Sandusky County visitors who want to learn more about all the exciting things to do in the area,” said David Thornbury, director of marketing for the Visitors Bureau.
“Given the current economic climate and the high cost of fuel this year, we believe there will be strong demand for day trips or vacations this year,” Thornbury said. “Our team met with dozens of potential new visitors, as well as individuals and families who are planning to make a trip to Sandusky County but also spend time at nearby restaurants, shops, hotels and other attractions.”
