Officials offer a way to save on travel

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania. As gas prices remain at record highs, PennDOT is highlighting a service that can help passengers save money.

Find My Ride (FMR) is an online service that provides public transit timetables, routes, and ways to save money.

People may be eligible for discounts or free wrinkles by completing an application using the tool.

Officials say the number of people using public transport has increased by 10% in recent months, and they hope this trend will continue.

“This is a great thing for a lot of reasons,” said Jenny Lowvers, Deputy Secretary for Multimodal Transportation. “Firstly, we’re looking at gas prices above five dollars a gallon, so people are looking for alternative ways to get around, but it’s also a great opportunity for people who depend on transit.”

The service has been available since March 2021, and so far more than 8,000 people have received discounted or free travel permits.
