Nancy Sam Named New Miami-Dade County Tourism Ambassador

The City of Miami in the United States of America has appointed Ambassador Nancy Sam as the new Tourism Ambassador for Miami-Dade County in Florida.

The announcement of her appointment came on Friday when a high-level government delegation of 30 people, including three commissioners from Miami-Dade County in Florida, visited Ghana.

The visit was aimed at getting to know their heritage, as well as establishing partnerships with various government agencies and the private sector in the field of seaport, maritime transport, aviation and tourism.

Ambassador Nancy Sam is expected to promote tourism between Ghana and Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade County is a province located in the southeastern part of the US state of Florida.

It has a population of approximately 2,701,767 as of the 2020 Census, making it the most populous county in Florida and the seventh most populous county in the entire United States of America (USA).

Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, III, who presented the certificate as confirmation of his appointment, said Ambassador Nancy Sam has been a positive influence in facilitating and promoting tourism in Miami-Dade, adding that her role in women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship deserves recognition .

Speaking to media following the announcement, Ambassador Nancy Sam, who is also the president of Women in Ghana Tourism, described how she was the first Ghana to start promoting tourism to the United States in 1992 through student exchange programs at Disney World Orlando, Fort -Lauderdale. , Miami and New York.

She thanked the Delegation for the trust placed in her, adding that her hard work had yielded positive results.

She pledged to use her over 30 years of experience to promote and explore tourism, investment opportunities and trade between Miami-Dade County and Ghana. Also in West Africa.

Ambassador Nancy K. Sam advised the Miami-Dade County delegation to contact the African Diaspora Forum (DAF), the only diaspora embassy in Ghana, to establish their connections on the African continent.

Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) officials, who also welcomed the Miami-Dade delegation to support all their tourism activities, vowed to push forward the Beyond the Return initiative.

Ambassador Nancy Sam is Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Private Sector Tourism Confederation and CEO of Staple Travel and Tours, one of the leading companies based in Accra.

She was past President of the Ghana Tour Operators Union (TOUGHA), a position she held for two terms, and Treasurer of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) from 2014 to 2018.
