MADISON (WKOW) — Despite nationwide travel challenges, Dane County Regional Airport is finding room for growth.
In 2019, the airport set records for the number of people arriving and departing from Madison. But then COVID-19 hit and a lot changed.
However, Michael Reachers, an airport spokesman, says their expansion plans have not changed.
“We have realized that we are running out of space if our growth trajectory stays the same. Pretty soon we’ll run out of space,” Reichers said. “Trying to support local travelers from Madison. We know they want to fly out of Madison and we’re trying to create the conditions that keep them here.”
Changes include additional gates, new restaurants and even a children’s playground. These changes should be submitted in 2023.
