Hailey Bieber sued over the name of her new beauty brand

Hailey Bieber is being sued for using the name of her new beauty brand. Indeed, the influencer has chosen to use her middle name, Rod, to refer to her skincare line, although the term is already used by the New York-based fashion and lifestyle brand.

Founded in 2014 by Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers, the company has seen celebrities like Beyoncé and Lupita Nyong’o wear its clothes. It is clear to the company’s two founders that two “brands cannot coexist without creating confusion.”

That is why they intend to go to court to force Hailey Bieber to change the name of her brand, on the understanding that her celebrity will allow her to meet success with any name.

Decade of work

Finally, they are asking the star to reimburse their legal fees, as provided by legal documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

“Nine years ago we quit our jobs to start Rod in our apartment, building a fashion company from the ground up. We are two female entrepreneurs who met in college, created the RHODE brand and spent years working for our company,” Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers wrote in a statement posted on their brand’s Instagram account.

“Today we were forced to file a lawsuit against Hailey Bieber and her new skincare line launched last week under the rhode brand. We didn’t want to file this complaint, but we had to do it to protect our case. »
