George Ezra Nervous About Platinum Anniversary Concert | Entertainment

George Ezra has mild impostor syndrome ahead of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee performance.

The 28-year-old singer was the first performer confirmed for the BBC Platinum Party At The Palace event at Buckingham Palace on June 4, with George promising to bring “pop and roll” to the royal residence.

In the announcement, he said: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, what an incredible honor to be offered.”

And in the new interview OK! Magazine, the “Anyone for You” hit writer, admitted he was nervous about performing for Her Majesty, especially with music legends including Diana Ross and Queen also featured on the programme.

Speaking of feeling overwhelmed, returning to the stage for the first time since the pandemic, he said: “I played my first show in London two weeks ago and just stood on the side of the stage, saying, ‘What the hell am I?’ are you going to do it?

“I have to remind myself that pop music is supposed to be fun.”

Of his Jubilee nerves, he added, “With Jubilee, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and nervous.

“If I look too far ahead, my mind starts to melt.

“I remember these events as a child and I think I have a bit of impostor syndrome.

“Diana Ross is playing, you know.”

The “Shotgun” singer joked that it wouldn’t be funny if he met the 96-year-old monarch, who is celebrating his 70th birthday on the throne.

He said, “I haven’t met the queen yet, but I’ll be my best if I do.”

George also revealed that he already has a royal suitor in Prince William’s wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

He said: “I heard that Kate Middleton has one or two of my CDs.”
