Ewan McGregor missed the hype around the Star Wars prequel trilogy | Entertainment

Ewan McGregor missed out on the Star Wars prequel hype because he was “too busy” with other films.

The Christopher Robin star admitted he didn’t notice the hype surrounding the 2002 release of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and the other two films in the trilogy in which he plays Obi-Wan Kenobi because he was always on to the next thing.

Speaking about the Jess Cagle Podcast, he said, “I don’t remember how many films I made between that and meeting Hayden. [Christensen, Darth Vader] on our Episode II and then I did movies again between those two so I was kind of eager to keep going, I was always really busy so I missed the Star Wars hype when it came out.”

Ewen admits that nothing can prepare you for glory.

Reflecting on his breakout role as Mark ‘The Landlord’ Renton in Danny Boyle’s hard-hitting 1996 black comedy-drama Trainspotting, the 51-year-old actor said: “I can look back and realize that I’ve personally dealt with a lot, the idea of being recognized and losing privacy and anonymity is hard.

“No one tells you how to do it, there is no guide to these things, and at the same time, this is what you think you have always wanted.”

Ewen has just reprized his role as Obi-Wan in the Star Wars spin-off for Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi, which reunites him with Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader).
