Embassy of Sri Lanka promotes tourism in Brazil

ECONOMYNEXT- The Sri Lankan Embassy in Brazil said it is promoting the island by collaborating with the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (ABAV-DF) in an online event with travel agents in Colombo that took place in June.

“Despite the fact that over 100,000 Brazilians visited the Asian region in 2018, only about 2,800 Brazilians visited Sri Lanka,” said Sri Lankan Ambassador to Brazil Sumit Dassanayake.

The Embassy said that 60 Brazilian participants attended the online event.

Levi Geronimo, President of the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies, said Sri Lanka is “a must-see destination that offers a variety of activities and value-for-money attractions.”

The embassy said Brazilian Tourism Minister Vanessa Mendonca has expanded her organization’s fullest cooperation to promote Sri Lankan tourism in Brazil.

Sri Lankan travel agencies and tour operators such as Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd and Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt) Ltd promoted the travel packages their companies offered at the event. (Colombo, June 19, 2022)
