62.3% of pre-pandemic visits restored

Georgia received 359,238 international travelers in May, up 49.7% from pre-pandemic 2019 and 228.5% more than last year, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Monday.

The GNTA also said the number includes 264,327 tourist visits, representing a 62.3 percent recovery over the same period in 2019 and a 173.9 percent increase from the same period last year.

In the first five months of 2022, international travelers made 1,180,034 visits to Georgia, which is 257.8% more than in the same period last year and 39.5% more than in 2019.

During the same period, the number of tourist visits was 906,670, according to GNTA, up 213.8% year-on-year and up 54.8% from January-May 2019.
